Gone…like dust in the wind…

“I will show you fear in a handful of dust.” – T.S. Eliot, The Waste Land
“We do not actually fear death — we fear that no one will notice our absence — that we will disappear without a trace” — Bones, Season 6, “The Doctor in the Photo”
Being invisible, marginalized, on the fringe…none of these states of being are kind to the soul. There is an emptiness that can take root in one’s soul in those states of being. A sad, heavy and oh so tangible emptiness that sometimes it seems as if it will swallow you whole.
So we rail against it. We fight, hand, tooth & nail to be heard, seen and validated. On some level, we are crying out, “please just don’t ignore me, don’t throw my existence to the wind like a piece of paper”. Please, love me, hold me, recognize me in you…remember me.
So how do you ensure that you are remembered, loved or recognized?
