What’s love got to do with it

Tina Turner is a powerful and smart woman.

She learned a long time ago to tow the line and never to let anyone cross that line ever. She learned that, at the end of the day, in this life you have to care for yourself because no one is going to care for you in the way that you can and need to. No one.

It is not about knocking over people in the process of taking care of you but it is remembering not to forget yourself when you interact with people — not allowing yourself to be swallowed up by other people, their issues, their situations, their lives.

I say the only love that really counts is the love for yourself — not love that is braggadocious or love that has you chasing something outside of yourself, but love that requires knowing what you need and want just as much as what you do not need or want. Love for oneself allows you to take leaps, make mistakes, forgive yourself and continue to motivate yourself to still want to be your best. Love for oneself opens up your heart to the unadulterated love you can give to others because you are not seeking attention from others to fill a void. Love for oneself is the only love that has got anything to do with anything. Everything else is bullshit.

Like I said, that Tina Turner is quite the powerful and smart woman.
